My oldest daughter, Penelope, has an August birthday so I thought it would be fun to use the Party on a Dime Challenge to throw her a Garden-style birthday party as our girl just loves all things girly and floral plus she loves being outside! We went with the bright fun colors of pink, yellow, and orange & used lots of colorful balloons and flowers. We also decorated with pretty vintage floral goodies like a vintage sheet for a tablecloth, my stash of vintage china plates, and my collection of vintage milk glass serve ware for the party food.
We offered our guests their choice of pink lemonade with strawberries or regular lemonade with lemon slices served in small plastic cups with pink, yellow or orange straws. We also offered strawberry cream cheese flower-shaped sandwiches with their choice of either white or wheat bread. We had cupcakes for dessert with the teeniest little flower candies on top. I also cut up pieces of fresh fruit and skewered them with wooden picks adorned with little butterflies that I punched out of scrapbook paper. The girls painted birdhouses for a party craft and took them home along with a small bag of birdseed and an iced flower sugar cookie tucked into orange chevron paper bags.
All of the girls really enjoyed the party and it was a lot of fun putting together a party on a budget to help support one of my favorite charities, World Vision.
